What Doesn’t Kill Us...

What Doesn't Kill Us...What Doesn't Kill Us...What Doesn’t Kill Us, Only Makes Us Stronger is a seven women show about the strength, empowerment, and survival of seven African American women, adapted from author/playwright Nicole Kearney Cooper’s critically acclaimed book by the same title.

Listen as Rachelle, who is on the verge of saying ‘I do’ finds her relationship has morphed into one of violence, and fear, culminating in a life-threatening confrontation with her lover.

Then there is Renee, a forty-nine year old mother of three who has returned to college. Suddenly her world is turned upside down when she is diagnosed with breast cancer. Join Renee as she takes us on a journey through the turbulent, unpredictable, and oftentimes viciousness that is breast cancer.

And Alesha, a single, twenty-three year old single mother of three children. After the condom breaks Alesha finds she pregnant for the fourth time. Now she is faced with a choice, and must decide what to do.

Join Rachelle, Alesha, Renee and the other women in What Doesn’t Kill Us, Only Makes Us Stronger, as they share their stories. Stories that exhibit their strength of character, ability to transcend tragedy and transform adversity into unexpected benefits. Stories that may conjure up memories, make you laugh out loud and even leave you in tears. All with one goal in mind: promoting, healing, empowerment, and the celebration of life.

Share the experiences of these women, as their stories validate, and celebrate the undefeatable spirit of the African American woman, her eternal hope, healing, and renewal of being.
